Daisy the jersey cow is a very exceptional cow and produces 5 gallons of milk everyday and it's just her first year. From her milk we feed all the bottle calves and lambs, make cheese of every description (except the blues) and make soap!!
Our soap starts with freezing the milk and adding the lye. That is pot one.
Pot two is the pork fat or "tallow" from our whey fed pigs, olive oil infused from flowers and herbs from the garden and castor oil.
The two pots are warmed up to about 90'f and then mixed together with a stick blender until "trace" (thick like pudding) then any coloring is added.
The soap is then poured into the molds and left for 2 days to harden and then cut into bars and "aged" for 2 months to complete the saponification process.
